Victor Baker is involved with paleoflood hydrological investigations in the southwestern United States, northern Australia, Israel, and India. Satellite remote sensing is being used to map the immense system of cataclysmic flood channels and paleolakes that occurred in central Asia at the end of the last ice age. Continuing studies are also concerned with the paleohydrological and hydroclimatological implications of channels, valleys, and other ancient water-related landforms on Mars. He is also studying the history and philosophy of the earth sciences and the interface of environmental science with public policy.
