Jim Shuttleworth is a member of ISPE's executive committee. His major research interests include physical processes in hydrology—with an emphasis on evaporation and hydrometeorology—as applied to environment change at local, regional, and global scales. This work includes effects on global climate due to Amazonian deforestation and African desertification. Present research involves the representation of heterogeneous land surfaces in global climate models, the application of remote sensing methods within hydrology, and the micrometeorology of natural semi-arid vegetation and riparian systems in the desert Southwest.
