Guy McPherson is a terrestrial plant ecologist, with primary interests in developing and creatively applying ecological theory within the context of biological conservation. His current research focuses on basic ecological relationships in savannas, grasslands, and deserts of the southwestern United States. He is especially interested in determining the mechanisms responsible for the distribution and abundance of plants with differing life-forms (i.e., trees, grasses) and nonnative plants.
