Stuart Marsh's research focuses on the integration and analysis of multitemporal airborne and satellite remote sensing data with GIS technologies to better map land cover and monitor change, and the development of integrated models for the analysis of land-cover change. He is working to map land-cover change in environmentally sensitive areas of Africa, develop new techniques to map land-cover change at global scales using NOAA-AVHRR data, develop rule-based and geostatistical models of vegetation distribution under varying climatic regimes within southern Arizona, and evaluate the environmental impacts of land-cover change within urban riparian and rural/urban fringe habitats.
